Nation’s First and Largest Operator of Micro-hospitals Surpasses 500,000 Patients Treated Milestone

HOUSTON – April 7, 2016 – Emerus Holdings Inc., a national and innovative leader in the delivery of emergent, inpatient and diagnostic care in partnership with leading health systems, has announced the achievement of a key milestone in the company’s history – treatment of the 500,000th patient at its facilities.

“Treating half a million patients is truly an exciting landmark for us,” said Emerus CEO and co-founder Dr. Toby Hamilton. “It further validates our vision that treating patients the way we would want to be treated, and the way we would want our families to be treated, is the right approach to patient care.

“Patients respond to physicians and staff who find joy and fulfillment in giving empathetic care. That’s the key to our success, and I’m grateful to every member of the Emerus family who has helped us reach this milestone. As a clinician and a practitioner, I know how important it is to connect with patients while giving treatment. Comparison studies show empathetic care actually improves clinical outcomes.”

Emerus is transforming the delivery of health care with the combination of compassionate physicians and micro-hospitals that provide high quality, convenient care and premier medical technology in a community setting. Emerus is the nation’s first and largest operator of micro-hospitals.

The company has grown at a phenomenal pace since the opening of the first Emerus facility in Tomball, Texas, 10 years ago. Emerus has quickly expanded its footprint in metropolitan areas across the country with leading health system partners including Baylor Scott & White Health, Baptist Health System, SCL Health, and Trinity Mother Frances. Currently operating 16 facilities, Emerus has more than 20 additional locations under development in both new and existing markets.

Through joint venture agreements with its partners, Emerus provides best-in-class provider services to patients in the communities where they live, work and play. Emerus maintains patient satisfaction scores that rank above the 90th percentile, nationally. Its facilities have been recognized with the Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award, a nationally respected symbol of achievement in health care.
