A little spring cleaning in the Emerus IT department recently gave new life to gently used computers and equipment. A total of 20 flat screen monitors and three color scanners and printers were donated Friday to the Montgomery County Women’s Center in The Woodlands – an estimated $1,000 resale value donation.

“I’m glad to work for a company who uses their resources to benefit the local community,” said Emily Artificavitch, IT service team lead at Emerus, “As with most non-profits, there isn’t much money or resources left for basic office needs, and certainly not enough to keep up with current technology. We’re able to not only declutter our workspace here at the home office, but we’re able to put them to good use with a non-profit right here in our own backyard.”

The Montgomery County Women’s Center provides safe shelter, counseling, crisis intervention and legal services to survivors of family violence, sexual assault and stalking. In addition, the center offers residential and transitional housing and outreach programs, which are all provided at no cost to residents.

According to Stephanie Costea, director of retail services for the center, the donated items will be shared to upgrade computers in both the computer lab, which helps residents with job searching and basic computer learning, and in the shelter’s administrative offices.
