MultiCare opens new neighborhood emergency department in Bremerton

New ED is first for MultiCare in Kitsap County

TACOMA, Wash. — MultiCare Health System opens its newest neighborhood emergency department to patients in Kitsap County on Monday, June 9 at 9 a.m.

The new facility, 5900 State Highway 303 NE in Bremerton, will address the needs of the community and increase access to care for patients in Kitsap County.

MultiCare Emergency – Bremerton will feature 12 examination rooms and on-site radiology services, including X-ray, ultrasound and CT scans. The emergency department will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will be staffed by board-certified emergency physicians.

“There continues be a need for more emergency medical services in Kitsap County,” said Eddie Bratko, president of MultiCare Tacoma General and MultiCare Allenmore hospitals. “When medical facilities in the region reach capacity, patients travel to Tacoma, Seattle or surrounding areas for care. Providing more emergency services close to home will save time and save lives.”

Neighborhood emergency departments are designed to provide prompt, comprehensive care for a wide range of illnesses and injuries. Patients can be seen, treated and discharged in far less time than at a traditional larger hospital.

This will be MultiCare’s sixth neighborhood emergency department in Washington state through a partnership with Texas-based Emerus Holding Inc. Emerus is a leader in developing and operating small-format hospitals and acute-care facilities. The Bremerton facility will operate under Tacoma General Hospital’s license.

General construction contractor was Anderson Construction. The facility was designed by Philo Wilke Partners.
MultiCare opened neighborhood emergency departments in Parkland and Bonney Lake in 2019, South Hill in 2020, Federal Way in 2021 and Lacey in 2023.
