SCL Health Opens New Satellite Healthcare Facility in Aurora

Facility includes state-of-the-art medical technology and emergency services close to home

AURORA, COLO. (March 1, 2017) – SCL Health has opened a new satellite emergency center in Aurora, offering convenience and easy access to comprehensive care right in patients’ own neighborhoods.

The 37,000-square-foot, two-story facility at 23770 E. Smoky Hill Road is part of SCL Health Community Hospital – Westminster.

SCL Health built the Westminster hospital and Aurora facility, along with two community hospitals in Littleton and Northglenn, through a joint venture with Emerus, the partner of choice of leading health systems across the nation. All were developed and owned by Duke Realty, an Indianapolis-based commercial real estate developer.

Together, the facilities offer a full range of licensed hospital services in suburban locations closer to where people live, work and play. Collectively, they offer the same type of healthcare services that are typically found on a larger hospital campus. This includes emergency and non-emergency medical care, inpatient care, a wide range of surgical procedures, extensive on-site laboratory and radiology services, and other comprehensive multispecialty services.

“SCL Health is proud to expand our legacy of care excellence to Aurora and southeast Denver,” said SCL Health President and CEO Mike Slubowski. “We are eager to show the community why people place their trust in us to deliver excellence and compassionate care.”

Craig Goguen, CEO of Emerus, notes, “Our beautiful new facilities are conveniently located in local neighborhoods and offer easy access to ensure residents get the care they need, when they need it. This translates into a more positive overall patient experience.”

“These facilities are becoming more and more popular across the country because they meet residents’ needs, especially the need for close proximity,” says Keith Konkoli, Duke Realty Executive Vice President, Healthcare. “We’re pleased to be a leader in this growing trend, working with Emerus and SCL Health to bring new, high-quality community healthcare services to the Denver region.”

The general contractor for the four hospitals is the Englewood, Colo., office of Kiewit Building Group, and the architect is the Houston office of PhiloWilke Partnership.
