SCL Health Celebrates Anniversary of First Micro-hospital Serving Westminster Community

DENVER – Sept. 21, 2016 – To commemorate one year of operation in Westminster, SCL Health Community Hospital will host an anniversary celebration to thank the community and local first responders for their support. The event is set to take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 31.

The fully licensed micro-hospital was built to accommodate the growing demand for health care services in Colorado, delivering quicker access to emergency services in a smaller campus setting as an alternative to larger hospital facilities offering extensive specialty care.

“We were the first health system in Colorado to build a hospital of this kind, recognizing that people expect choice, convenience and value when health care needs arise,” said SCL Health president and CEO Mike Slubowski. “This hospital serves Westminster and the surrounding communities right in the neighborhood, delivering care where people live, work and play.”

The family friendly celebratory event – open to the public at no cost – will include live music, bounce houses, face painters, food trucks, giveaways and a photo booth. For additional details, visit www.sclhealthcommunity.org/events.

SCL Health’s Westminster location is one of two micro-hospitals operating in the Denver area, each built in partnership with Texas-based Emerus, the nation’s first and largest operator of micro-hospitals with a national footprint. SCL’s Health’s Littleton location opened its doors to the public earlier this year.

“Through our partnership with SCL Health, patients know they will receive premier medical care from doctors and staff they can trust, each time they walk through our doors,” said Dr. Toby Hamilton, CEO of Emerus. “It has been a great year being part of this community.”

Sean Stricker, regional CEO of SCL Health Community Hospital, says providing empathetic patient care of the highest quality is a shared commitment of the partnership that is reflected in each organization’s mission, vision and values.

“This journey began with a vision of bringing more access points to quality health care closer to where patients live, work and play. We look forward to building on our progress to reach new heights in our second year and beyond.”
