Ribbon-Cutting Celebrates SCL Health Community Hospital at Westminster

New hospital to offer convenient, innovative health care where families live, work and play

Westminster, Colo. (November 2, 2015) – A ribbon-cutting ceremony in Westminster on Nov. 6 celebrates the upcoming opening of the first of four new community hospitals that will offer Denver-area residents the premier and innovative health care services patients typically expect to find in larger hospitals. Best of all, these services are being made available right in their own neighborhoods.

SCL Health, a faith-based nonprofit, and Emerus, a national provider of medical care, have formed a joint venture partnership to build and manage the four community hospitals. Indianapolis-based commercial real estate developer Duke Realty is developing all of the new facilities. In addition to the Westminster hospital, which will open later this fall, there will be community hospitals in Aurora, Northglenn and Littleton. They are scheduled to open in 2016.

“The City of Westminster extends its warmest welcome to SCL Health and Emerus, and we look forward to having them as an active and involved member of our community,” said Westminster Mayor Herb Atchison.

Westminster Mayor Pro Tem Bob Briggs, a third-generation native Coloradan, echoed Atchison’s comments. “Westminster is excited about having SCL Health and Emerus in our great city, with your latest health care technologies, so our citizens can enjoy a healthy place to live, work and play,” he said.

The two-story, 37,080-square-foot SCL Health Community Hospital, at 6500 W. 104th Ave. in Westminster, offers in a small, neighborhood setting, a wide range of comprehensive health care services. These include emergency medical care, labor and delivery services, inpatient care, and a diverse range of surgical procedures available in two state-of-the-art operating rooms. Among other comprehensive services, the facility offers on-site laboratory and radiology services.

“SCL Health’s healing ministry is rooted in a mission to improve the health of the people and communities we serve,” said Mike Slubowski, President and CEO of SCL Health. “While we have an extensive and trusted network of hospitals today, this hospital enables us to become an even stronger community partner and bring our care and experience even closer to home.”

Dr. Toby Hamilton, CEO of Emerus, said: “We are honored to partner with SCL Health, which shares our vision of providing advanced health care in a community hospital where patients are valued and appreciated. We are excited our partnership with SCL Health enables us to bring our patient-centered health care and premier medical technology to Westminster and the entire Denver region.”

Among the many conditions the new community hospital is equipped to treat are strokes, trauma, overdoses, allergic reactions, altered mental status, asthma and breathing problems, burns, chest pain and heart attacks, dehydration, head injuries, pneumonia, seizures, sprains and broken bones.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony begins at 4:30 p.m., at the SCL Health Community Hospital facility, following media tours that begin at 3:30.
