Emerus, Baptist – new construction in San Antonio

Emerus Hospital Partners LLC and Baptist Health System will soon begin construction on a new emergency hospital in suburban San Antonio.

The San Antonio Business Journal, an affiliated publication, reports that Houston-based Emerus and San Antonio-based Baptist will complete the $10 million, 40,000 square-foot facility early next year.

In June 2011, Baptist and Emerus released plans to build four new emergency hospitals in San Antonio for about $40 million.

The health system partners opened their first emergency hospital from the plan in December.

The new hospital will be staffed with board-certified emergency medicine physicians, registered nurses and radiation technologists.

Emerus CEO Toby Hamilton previously said that the health system hoped to establish a key presence in San Antonio with this plan. In total, the health systems expect to create 160 new jobs with the establishment of the four new centers.

Emerus currently has three specialty hospitals in Houston and two in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
