The first microhospital in the Pittsburgh region is scheduled to open in November.

AHN Hempfield, which is in Hempfield Township in Westmoreland County, will hold a ribbon cutting and community open house on Nov. 8 at the hospital.

The hospital is one of four that AHN is building under its joint venture with Emerus. They are small-format hospitals with a fully staffed, 24-hour emergency room, 10 or 12 observation beds, and a variety of other services. There are also neighborhood hospitals being built in McCandless, Brentwood and Harmar.

AHN Hempfield also includes an AHN cancer center, which will open sometime in December.
