Tochukwu Udegbune

Telemetry RN –
Baylor Emergency Medical Centers at Keller & Colleyville

How long have you worked here?
I have worked here since November 2015.

Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
Thankfully, I have worked in health care throughout my career and can honestly say it has been absolutely phenomenal to watch myself evolve both personally and professionally. I have not had any crazy or negative experiences thus far (knock on wood).

What is your proudest moment or experience treating our patients?
When patients say “thank you so much, you are such a kind nurse” it really warms my heart, because the community is who I serve. Emerus promotes a culture of caring, which I always advocate for in patient interactions.

What are the top 3 things on your bucket list?
Travel to Greece and Paris, and watch my children grow into productive citizens of the world.

What is your hidden talent, hobby or greatest interest outside of work?
I love to sing, although I don’t know if I do such a good job. I would love to travel back to my home country, Nigeria, to provide health care resources to the under-privileged population.

What are your top 3 life highlights?
Graduating nursing school, marrying my husband and giving birth to two beautiful children, and chasing my dream of becoming a doctoral-educated woman (in progress).

What is your dream vacation?
Travel to Hawaii.

If you could be anyone from any time period, who would it be and why?
I love being myself but, I do love the 1980s. The music, the soul, the vibe; it was all so eclectic, and the dress style was impeccable.

Favorite national observance/why?
New Year’s Eve.

Favorite medicine-based movie or show/why?
“Grey’s Anatomy.” I like to laugh at all the scenes that make no sense from a medical standpoint. For example, you know we do not place defibrillator pads on a hospital gown during a code. Stop that mess!

Complete this sentence about what your hospital brings to the community, or what you love about your hospital:

My hospital brings new meaning to compassionate, patient-centered care. My team members have a heart of servitude, which is reflected in their professionalism. I have found a place where I can be proud every day, and am a happier person because of it.
