Sabrina Davis

CT/Rad Tech – Baylor Emergency Medical Centers at Keller

How long have you worked here?
I have worked at the Baylor Keller facility since December 2013, when we opened our doors to the public.

Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I stepped away from health care when my youngest child was chronically ill with asthma. During this time, I started a personal chef service, which I ran for 15 years. I love to cook, and this job allowed me the flexibility I needed, having two young children at home. While working as a personal chef, I had the pleasure of cooking for a local news anchor and for a family member of Edie Brickell and Paul Simon. The later scored me and my husband third-row concert tickets to Simon and Garfunkel when they played at American Airlines many years ago. That was pretty cool! I have continued to cook for one of my clients while working fulltime at the hospital, which to me is the best of both worlds.

What is your proudest moment or experience treating our patients?
My proudest moments are when we come together as a team when a patient is in crisis, and we work together like a well-oiled machine. There have been many times that I have experienced this, and it’s like a medical ballet – no mass confusion or frantic running around, just graceful transitions from one task to the next. This is impressive!

What are the top 3 things on your bucket list?
Exploring Alaska, spending a winter living on Lake Superior (in a house/cabin of course) and visiting Germany again with my husband to share the experience with our daughters.

What is your hidden talent, hobby or greatest interest outside of work?
My greatest interest outside of work, besides my family, would be my love of cooking. Those who know me well know that I am always working on recipes – whether it is cakes, cookies, breads or donuts, the list goes on. I also love to travel, so I am constantly researching things to see, do and eat in areas we travel to.

What are your top 3 life highlights?
Marrying my best friend would have to start the list of my life’s highlights. The births of both my daughters would be tied for second. Third would have to be watching my daughters grow
to become beautiful, independent and strong young women.

What is your dream vacation?
Returning to Germany with my daughters and husband to eat, drink and experience Germany together.

If you could be anyone from any time period, who would it be and why?
I don’t think I have a particular person I would like to have been, but the time period I feel drawn to would be the 1940s. I love watching movies of that era. The clothes and styles of that time are remarkable, and so are the actors and actresses.

Favorite national observance/why?
I love all holidays, but Christmas is my favorite, hands down. I have so many happy memories from when I was a kid celebrating with family. I’ve passed down many of our family traditions to our girls. The food, decorations, music and church make it a very special time for us.

Favorite medicine-based movie or show/why?
My favorite medicine-based show is “M*A*S*H.” I still enjoy watching re-runs when I find them, because the comedians and actors/actresses are so great.

Complete this sentence about what your hospital brings to the community, or what you love about your hospital:
My hospital has filled an obvious need in the Keller community. From the moment we opened our doors in December 2013, we have had a steady stream of patients. It is always so nice to hear from our patients, who tell us they are happy that our facility is so close to their home, and that we are here to help and treat them. I also love our team of employees at Baylor Keller.
