Hospital Administrator – Baylor Emergency Medical Centers at Burleson & Mansfield
How long have you worked here?
I’ve worked at Emerus for 6.5 years.
Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I worked on the promotions team for Ben E. Keith the summer after I graduated high school. I promoted its brand of energy drinks at all types of events, which was a lot of fun. I got to meet some very interesting people along the way.
What is your proudest moment or experience treating our patients?
My proudest moment was when Burleson received a pediatric respiratory arrest patient, and every staff member was in that room performing any and all life-saving measures to keep that child alive. We worked as hard as we could to be sure he was stable upon transfer. I stayed in contact with his family, and when he was finally released, his parents brought him back to our facility so that he could see everyone who worked so hard to save his life. It was a tearful moment, but it was worthwhile to see the patient walk into our facility without any life-altering deficits. It was an amazing experience all around.
What are the top 3 things on your bucket list?
• Travel to all 50 states at least once.
• Travel to another country without an agenda or to-do list and just wing it.
• Cliff dive in Hawaii
What is your hidden talent, hobby or greatest interest outside of work?
Most people know I ride a Harley – it’s a hobby my husband introduced me to, and I just love the feel of the open road. I also love to sing karaoke!
What are your top 3 life highlights?
• Telling my parents I got accepted to nursing school.
• Telling the man of my dreams, “I do!”
• Becoming a stepmom to an amazing little girl.
What is your dream vacation?
To visit Bora Bora and stay at the Four Seasons water bungalows.
If you could be anyone from any time period, who would it be and why?
History is just that, history. I would want to be someone in the far future so I can see how health care and technology continue to advance.
Favorite national observance/why?
Fourth of July! This holiday always reminds me to be humble and remember that I am living the American Dream. The summer weather is great, and I love making a pallet in the bed of our truck and looking up at the night sky to watch fireworks.
Favorite medicine-based movie or show/why?
I don’t watch much TV nowadays but, one of my favorite shows is “Chicago Fire.” While it is a show about firemen – who doesn’t love that? That’s why I married one – they do run some medical calls. I am an adrenaline junkie, and that show always keeps me on edge.
Complete this sentence about what your hospital brings to the community, or what you love about your hospital:
“My hospital…”
My hospital is a family. We love, fight and play just like family, knowing that at the end of the day, we all have each other’s back. I am so happy to be a part of the team at Burleson and Mansfield.
